I have been with the Frankfurt Zoological Society for two and a half years and have a background in community conservation. When I was still a student, I was the president of the Friends of Nature Club. I then worked in 1995 for the development and promotion of enhanced cooking stoves in the Rwandan refugee camps at Kibumba in order to minimize the destruction of Virunga’s forest.
In 2000, I led a study on the impact of community conservation in the park. I then spent many years implementing programs to help improve the livelihoods of pygmies around the Virunga National Park. I now work with Rob Muir, also of the Frankfurt Zoological Society.
